WELCOME TO OUR GORGEY SITE!
Alright, this could get confusing so bear with us...This site was founded by two friends who wanted a
website. Our nicknames are Merry and Pippin because we are EXTREMELY hobbit-like. We happen to like Orlando Bloom and Elijah
Wood, respectively (SO HOT, SO HOT). So, we are not guys, and we are not gay. We are just two girls who wanted a website.
There. Phew. In turn, there is no "one-word" to describe our site except quirky! LOL Hope you have fun here! To explain the navigation a little better, here's a handy guide: Brandywine
and Tucksborough: Learn about the characters Merry and Pippin, and read some information on the web site's creators. The
Old Forest: Some links that we think rock! Bills Stable: Send us an e-mail! Bag End:
A (small) picture gallery. The Party Tree: The place is jumpin' with more links. Alright the links thing
is redundant. I get where you're coming from, so I will try to update that page and make it better. The Mathom-House:
Randomosity!!!

Sept 03, 2005> Yay, finally I know a much needed update from Pip! I know it's sad the Christmas
background is still up, we could almost leave it up for this Christmas, but we won't (at least I hope we won't). I have recently
gotten back from the ELF Con in Florida, where I met Elijah Wood and so can now die happy, seriously it was awesome and I
met a lot of great new people! Will hopefully get pictures up from that. Not much else going on, we are still
college bums, Merry has taken up belly dancing and Tess, this update is dedicated to you!
Here will be the Updates. Check back, we'll try to update often!
Just a happy little extra...

the US so I can say that!) So from now on we are going to have a culture of the month to enlighten our country and the world
of the fascinating and wonderful cultures everywhere! Hopefully this may spread and we can avoid some *cough* conflicts *cough*

April 2, 2003> Okie I changed the layout back because this one is just...so...PRETTY!!
Lol...Um I think I will do a couple things, but I'm not sure what yet. So just flip around and we shall see what pops up.
Or something less psycho-sounding.
March 21, 2003> Alright I (Merry) added some links all over and I will be
adding a little photo gallery soon. Also there is a great site *in Czechoslovakian* that has a peach load of LOTR pictures.

OVERVIEW
Djibouti is part
of the African continent bounded by the Red Sea, Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea. The country is a barren strip of land, much
of it white sandy beaches. Inland is semi-desert and desert, with thorn bushes, steppes and volcanic mountain ranges. Djibouti
city is late 19th-century and has a distinctly Arab feel. Attractions include a lively market near the Mosque, and many good
local restaurants. Nearby are beaches at Dorale, 11km (7 miles), and at Kor Ambad, 14km (9 miles) away. Djibouti lies within
a geological feature known as the Afar Triangle, one of the hottest and most desolate places on Earth, much of it located
beneath sea level. Straddling the Ethiopian frontier is Lake Abbe, home to thousands of flamingoes and pelicans. A large market
can be found at Ali-Sabieh, a major stop for the main-line train between Djibouti and Addis Ababa. On the opposite side of
the Gulf of Tadjoura, an excellent place for scuba diving, fishing and underwater photography, are the towns of Obock and
Tadjoura. There are restaurants to suit all tastes, serving French, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arab and local specialties.
Geography Djibouti
is part of the African continent, bordered to the northeast and east by the Red Sea, the southeast by Somalia, the southwest
by Ethiopia and to the north by Eritrea. The country is a barren strip of land around the Gulf of Tadjoura, varying in width
from 20km (12 miles) to 90km (56 miles), with a coastline of 300km (188 miles), much of it white sandy beaches. Inland is
semi-desert and desert, with thorn bushes, steppes and volcanic mountain ranges.
WHERE TO GO
Djibouti is a
late 19th-century city with a distinctly Arabic feel. Attractions include the lively Central Market (Le Marché Central) near
the Mosque, and many good local restaurants. Also worth seeing is the Tropical Aquarium with underwater exhibits from the
Red Sea (open daily 1600-1830), and the Presidential Palace. Nearby are beaches at Dorale, 11km (7 miles), and Kor Ambado,
14km (9 miles). Djibouti lies within a geological feature known as the Afar Triangle, one of the hottest and most desolate
places on Earth. Part of the Great Rift Valley system, it is a wedge of flat desert pushing into the Ethiopian Massif. Much
of it is below sea level. Lake Assal, 100km (60 miles) to the southwest of Djibouti city, is one of the lowest surface areas
anywhere on the planet (150m (570 ft) below sea level); and is reachable only by 4-wheel-drive vehicle.
